Heraldry otherwise known as Coats of Arms.

A coat of Arms in the past was for an individual in 99% of the cases, this does not cover clans as that is different again when one talks about Tartan’s.
There are a number of so called coats of Arms on the internet that are claimed to be for our GRIMASON surname however to-date I have yet to find in any Heraldry Book any GRIMASON that had a coat of Arms which in turn means the site is only after your Money.
There are some for the GRIMSTON/E surname that is close or the same as some that are claimed to be for the GRIMASON surname.

The only authentic Coat of Arms that I have found is one that for a Grimmeisen This Coat of Arms was awarded to a member of the Family on 10 March 1790 in Bavaria, Germany.
The blazon can be found in the Armuals of Europe.
The Blazon reads as follows;
Coupe: au 1 d’ or a deux branches de chene se sin, possees en pals, feuilees chacune de cinq pieces; au 2 de gu. a une etoile ( 7 ) d’ or.”
In English: The shield is divided horizontally.
The upper part is Gold/Yellow, with two branches of Oak, both vertical, one on the right side and one on the left. Both are green, with five pieces ( Four Leaves and One Acorn ). The Lower half of the shield is Red, with a Seven pointed Star of Yellow/Gold.

Some years ago I got a company called Designs of Wonder to do this coat of Arms up for me, it was a paid service, the following image is that Coat of Arms which is based on the above Blazen:

As for the GRIMSHAW’s there is a coat of Arms, however as I said before it is for the person who got it made up.

Fairburn’s Book of Crests has this to say concerning Blazons for the following surnames.
