Our quest to find out where our Ancestors came from can at times give us some truths that un-earth skeletons in the cupboard and it can also link us to those that we did not know prior to the test as being kin.
In my own case this has highlighted a Non Parental Event (NPE) that in turn has meant some detective work to find out when that NPE happened.
I have also uploaded my own Raw Data to MyHeritage.com which has given me DNA results that have allowed me to find out who my Great Grand father really was, in my case he is not a GRIMASON, however what where my cousins who now are my Half cousins, the Paper trail may match up with their DNA, only testing will tell me either way, I will be encouraging them to join my DNA Project that is hosted by Family Tree DNA
Please note if you have tested with Familytree DNA and have also got the Family Finder add on then you will be able to Download your Raw DNA Data and then upload it to MyHeritage.com, this can save you some money.
What I started will continue as the case of putting the various GRIMASON’s back in touch with kin still remains even though DNA testing has told me that I have a None Parental Event (NPE) in my line, this may not apply to my now Half Cousins.
I have set up a project at Family Tree DNA for the GRIMASON surname, this includes all known variants of the surname.
I would like to include the GRIMESEY family in this as well as it is said that the GRIMESEY surname is a corruption of the GRIMASON surname.
So far those GRIMASON’s that have tested to date all belong to the same Hapolgroup that being R-M269 ( Hap’group R1b1a1a2) the majority of these are all Y-DNA 37 Marker test, only one has expanded on that test.
It would help if others would also expand their test even if they pay for the Family Finder it would help make possible connections.
